NICET In-Building Public Safety Communications (IB-PSC) - Level 1

This certification program is for engineering technicians engaged in the design and layout, and installation and maintenance, of in-building public safety communication systems. The candidates for NICET certification at Level I in In-Building Public Safety Communications should have the knowledge, experience, and basic skills needed to work in the industry.

The In-Building Public Safety Communications exam is delivered on a computer at Pearson Vue Testing Centers.

NICET has updated the In-Building Public Safety Communications (IB-PSC) exams on December 2nd, 2024.

Content Outline:

Performing Rough Installation Activities (Questions related to these tasks make up 50-60% of the exam.)
- Read and follow RF system installation documentation.
- Install cable (e.g., support, fire stopping, grounding, etc.).
- Terminate cable.
- Install passive equipment.
Performing Finish and Trim Out Installation Activities (Questions related to these tasks make up 40-50% of the exam.)
- Install donor antenna.
- Install active equipment.
- Install dedicated annunciator.
- Install battery backup (BBU).
